چکیده

Abstract Biochar as an eco-friendly and low-cost product has the potential for modification to improve its functionality. The application of modified biochar is a new approach that can soil properties, quality, productivity plants, thereby helping sustainable agriculture. focus recent studies dealt with methods improving function biochar. be enhance physicochemical properties (such bulk density, cation exchange capacity, specific surface area, porosity) nutritional value. This review provides crucial summarizing information about classification techniques agricultural comparison pristine on fertility plant production. There are several approaches biochar, which divided into four main categories: chemical, physical, enriched minerals, nanocomposites. could more appropriate poor-nutrient soils high adsorption capacity different pollutants immobilization. Further research needed determine best short-term long-term effects growth under environmental conditions.

Biochar: Effects on Crop Productivity and Soil Properties

World food security is under challenge to a great extent due to effects of climate change, continued population growth and resource-depleting practices on agriculture (IAASTD, 2009). Presently poor farmers use either organic manure or inorganic fertilizers (Mando et al., 2005; Topoliantz et al., 2005) for maintaining soil fertility as they cannot afford to apply fertilizers as a nutrient source...

Commercial scale agricultural biochar field trial in Québec, Canada over two years: effects of biochar on soil fertility, biology and crop productivity and quality

A commercial scale biochar field trial was established on a farm in Québec, Canada in May 2008. A very fine, commercially available biochar from fast pyrolysis of wood waste was applied as received from the manufacturer using standard farm machinery. The target application rate was 5.6 t/ha, but an estimated 30% of the material was wind-blown and lost during handling, transport to the field, so...

Phosphorous and Mung Bean Residue Incorporation Improve Soil Fertility and Crop Productivity in Sorghum and Mungbean-Lentil Cropping System

In sorghum and mungbean – lentil cropping system, field experiments were conducted for three successive years to assess the effect of mung bean residue incorporation on sorghum and succeeding lentil productivity along with different doses of phosphorus (P; 0, 30, 60 kg ha−1) applied to these crops. The level of soil fertility was also tested with or without incorporation of mung bean residue. T...

Biological Nitrogen Fixation for Increased Crop Productivity, Enhanced Human Health and Sustained Soil Fertility

FAOSTAT 2002 Nitrogen is, with water, the greatest global constraints to agricultural productivity. Sustainable cropping systems throughout history have relied on combining cereals with nitrogen-fixing legumes. However, over last fifty years, cereals have dominated global agriculture, while legume cultivation areas and productivity have stagnated or even declined. Global agriculture is now at a...
